Biography & Resume

Kira is a Metro-Detroit musician and Arts Administrator. Kira Leeper is the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra's Education & Engagement Manager. She is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra's educational programs and she oversees the A2SO's volunteer force. Kira joined the A2SO in 2015 as Production Coordinator in December 2015. 

She attended Brigham Young University where she received a BM in Music Performance on the Oboe under Dr. Geralyn Giovanetti. She is currently finishing up a second bachelors/teaching certification in Elementary Music Education at Eastern Michigan University. Kira’s first love has always been playing and teaching the oboe. She maintains a thriving private studio in the metro Detroit area.



Kira has performed with a wide variety of performance groups in both Utah, Texas & Michigan. Kira has subbed with the Detroit area's Ypsilanti Symphony Orchestra as well The Millennial Choirs and
Orchestra and The Timpanogos Symphony Orchestra in Utah. She is an experienced pitt musician and has recently appeared in local and collegiate productions of Fiddler on the Roof, Phantom of the Opera, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Peter Pan, and Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte.
Kira enjoys many broad aspects of music including musicology. She worked off site as a research assistant for Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale (RILM), a New York based music library. Previously, she also worked for three years under BYU's Music Special Collections Curator, Dr. David Day. There she oversaw and coordinated the establishment of an online database that gave everyday users access to digital copies of primary (original) opera and ballet scores from the 18th and 19th centuries.





Though a native of Carrollton, Texas, Kira currently resides with her family in Livonia, Michigan.
